Black Diamond Culture

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”

–Helen Keller

I remember the first time I accidentally went down a Black Diamond ski slope. I was a beginner snowboarder. It was my 2nd time ever lacing up, and my 4th time ever on a ski hill.

I was scared. I had to fight off panic.
I was alone with no one to guide me.

Most of the way I scooted down on my butt. Yet the feeling when I got down to the bottom was unforgettable.

I don’t recall any of the easy or “good” runs I did down the mountain that day. Just the adventurous one I did badly.

As a business owner, I’ve experienced the equivalent of accidentally going down the Black Diamond skill hill countless times. I never know how I’ll manage to make it off the mountain, but I resolve to keep fighting, to keep maneuvering, even if that means scooting along on my butt, to get through it.

You can’t foresee all of the challenges you’ll face as an entrepreneur, but you’re guaranteed to face a number of them.

One of the best parts of growing a collaborative, purpose-driven real estate company is that I am no longer alone on the mountain. We can follow each other’s tracks. We can learn from one another’s mistakes and successes. We still have to get down on our own, no one is there to carry us, but together we may find a better way down.

This is why who we surround ourselves with is so important.

It’s why we don’t do traditional recruiting.

We don’t want to bribe anyone to come work at our real estate firm with bells and whistles and lower fees.

That isn’t culture.
That’s a sales pitch.

We want agents to come to Front Street because they want the adventure of working at a purpose-driven company, the comradery of working alongside other hardworking and ethical professionals, and the reassurance that no one has to go down the Black Diamond on their own. Someone always has your back. That is our culture.

We’ve learned that we can make a greater impact on our own businesses, community, and industry when we surround ourselves with agents who give a damn, who embrace challenge, and who are always willing to learn and grow. That is our culture.

Together we can take on the unknowns of the future, we can lead by example, and make a real difference as impact entrepreneurs. That is our culture.

Life is full of Black Diamond moments. Who you choose to surround yourself with on your way down the mountain makes all the difference.

P.S. – If you think you align with our culture, by all means reach out. We want to hear from you.
