This is a TIDE ad

This is a TIDE ad

Even my wife enjoyed the football game last night. It was exciting all the way to the final seconds.

The underdog won.

I was really impressed with the Eagles’ play calls.

They were ALL IN.

It kind of reminded me of play calls Boise State used to make when they were the underdogs in big games.

TIDE also went ALL IN.

You can’t get much more boring than laundry detergent.

But TIDE quickly used humor and marketing savvy to get millions of people watching to laugh. “If it’s clean, it’s a TIDE ad.” Brilliant.

I love to watch athletes, teams, and even companies go ALL IN. Especially in clever and unexpected ways.

Tomorrow I have a big meeting with my team. My entire office will be there for my personal version of a State of the Union Address.

Like Warren Buffett at his annual shareholders meeting. On a slightly smaller scale.

It’s a time to review our principles and purpose, to share big ideas, thoughts and predictions about the future, and where, when, and how we want to go ALL IN.

However, just like TIDE and the Eagles, it’s not just about being ALL IN, it’s about being ALL IN and clever.

Which is why I love what I do.

I love the thrill of going ALL IN for my clients, I love to innovate with my team and my mentors.

I love to do the unexpected to get better results.

But mostly…

I love TIDE.

P.S. Do you have anything you are going ALL IN on this year? I’d love to hear it.
